Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting both the visitor numbers table and the satisfaction survey charts. An overview is attempted, noting the general increase in visitor numbers and satisfaction levels. However, some features are under-developed or inaccurately reported. For instance, the text states that 'the satisfied users was 72,000 that surged to 92,000', whereas the table indicates 74,000 visitors before refurbishment. Additionally, the description of survey percentages contains some confusion between the categories, such as stating 'Very satisfied was making 10%... that is now reduced to 5%' when the data shows very dissatisfied at 10% dropping to 5%. To reach a higher band, the overview needs to be more fully developed and the data points must be cited with complete accuracy.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the answer into an introduction, an overview paragraph, and body details. Information and ideas are generally organized logically, moving from overall trends to specific figures. However, cohesion is at times faulty and mechanical. The transition phrases such as 'In the given data, the their is positive response seen' are awkward, and referencing is not always clear. Paragraphing is attempted, though the layout could be managed more effectively to separate the overview distinctly from the introduction. To improve, you should ensure that cohesive devices are used more naturally and that the progression of ideas flows smoothly without abrupt shifts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'refurbished', 'proportion', and 'surged'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, incorrect word forms, and spelling mistakes throughout the text, including 'Overlall', 'disatisfied', 'refurbushment', and 'suvery'. Collocation and word choice are also occasionally imprecise, such as 'numbers of people visited to Ashdown Museum' instead of 'number of people who visited'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the score. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary range, ensure accurate word formation, and eliminate spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at relative clauses and comparative structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in sentence structures, verb forms, prepositions, and articles. Examples include 'the numbers of people visited to Ashdown Museum before and the year after of its renovation', 'The charts illustrates', 'at different level', and 'People with didn't take part'. Punctuation and subject-verb agreement also show consistent lapses. While these errors rarely impede communication entirely, they are frequent enough to place the grammar at this level. To improve, focus on mastering basic agreement, verb tenses, and prepositional usage while refining complex structures.
