Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task, successfully summarising the main features of the table and the pie charts. You have highlighted the key visitor number increase from 74,000 to 92,000 and accurately reported the shifts in satisfaction levels, such as the rise in positive reviews from 45% to 75%. All parts are addressed, though some details could be further extended to reach higher bands. For instance, grouping the satisfaction categories into positive and negative responses is a good strategy, but the specific breakdown of data could be more deeply analysed or compared. Overall, the information presented is accurate and directly derived from the visual data, establishing a clear overview in the second paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical progression, moving from an introduction and overview to specific body paragraphs detailing visitor numbers and survey results. Paragraphing is used to separate the table data from the chart data effectively. However, cohesion can sometimes feel a bit mechanical due to a reliance on basic transitional links or abrupt sentence transitions, such as starting sentences directly without smooth introductory clauses. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences lack adequate cohesive ties to weave the points together seamlessly, keeping the text at this level.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
An adequate range of vocabulary is deployed for the task, successfully communicating the trends and statistical changes. You attempt less common vocabulary items and phrases, such as 'proportions', 'remarkably', and 'dramatically'. However, there are some minor word-choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as writing 'good response' and 'bad response' instead of 'positive feedback' or 'negative ratings', and minor punctuation or phrasing slips like 'In which proportion of very dissatisfied halved'. These vocabulary choices and slight mechanical errors do not impede communication, but they reflect the current lexical level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
A mix of simple and complex sentence forms is used throughout the writing. You demonstrate control over past tense forms when reporting survey data, such as 'increased from 74,000 to 92,000' and 'remained 5% as before'. However, there are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing commas, run-on fragments like 'In which proportion of very dissatisfied halved to 5%', and occasional missing articles. These errors persist throughout the text, but they rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow your intended meaning without difficulty.
