Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the table and the charts, noting the visitor numbers and satisfaction levels across the two periods. An overview is attempted at the beginning, noting the increase in visitor numbers. However, some parts of the response are under-developed or lack clarity, particularly when attempting complex comparisons. For example, stating that 'dissatisfied was the highest and no response was lowest in before refurbishment' lacks precise data integration in the overview. While key data points are selected, such as the 92,000 visitors after refurbishment and the shift in satisfaction ratings, the lack of fully developed comparisons keeps this response at the current level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the writing into an introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. Information is generally sequenced logically, starting with the table data and moving on to the survey charts. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Words and phrases like 'Looking from an overall perspective', 'Turnig towards the details', and 'Moving further' are used as transition markers, but referencing is occasionally unclear, and some cohesive devices feel repetitive or slightly unnatural. Paragraphing is present and helps separate the visual data, contributing to the half-band element where the structure is clear overall despite mechanical cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors, awkward word choices, and spelling mistakes that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'Musem' for museum, 'refubishment' for refurbishment, 'Turnig' for turning, and 'inceease' for increase. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'volume of tourists' and 'satisfaction levels', but inaccuracies in word form and collocation persist throughout the text, preventing the response from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb tenses, prepositions, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include 'the surveys shows dissatisfied was the highest', 'whereat after refurbishment rose satisfied and no response was remain same', and 'the data of the surveys of individuals visit in before refurbishment in Dissatisfied was sharply rise at 40%'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader, although the meaning remains mostly clear.
