Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting both the visitor numbers and the survey results, including an appropriate overview. Key features such as the rise in visitor numbers from 74,000 to 92,000 and the shifts in satisfaction levels are correctly identified and compared. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and uneven, with minor mechanical reporting of data points rather than fully integrated analysis. Additionally, the response falls short of the minimum 150-word requirement, containing only 127 words, which restricts the depth of coverage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement, successfully attempting an introduction, an overview, and body details. However, the progression is sometimes hampered by poor paragraphing and a lack of clear overall structure, as the text is compressed into very few blocks. Cohesive devices are used mechanically or are missing altogether, leading to choppy sentences such as the repetitive use of 'Before re-construction' and 'after'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical flow between ideas requires more sophisticated cohesive ties.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'refurbishment', 'percentage', 'dissatisfied', and 'fluctuated'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'amount of satisfactory visits' instead of 'levels of visitor satisfaction', 'amount of travellers' instead of 'number of visitors', and 'no reponse' or 'perecnt'. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they reflect a limited and restricted lexical flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are recurrent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'number of visitors are 74,000'), missing articles, awkward prepositions, and punctuation errors. For instance, sentences often run together or lack necessary commas. While the errors are frequent, they rarely impede overall comprehension, allowing the core meaning to be understood by the reader.
