Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by presenting both visitor numbers and survey satisfaction results for Ashdown Museum before and after refurbishment. An overview is attempted, noting the general increase in visitor numbers and satisfaction levels. However, some features are under-developed or less clearly explained, such as the blending of percentages and visitor counts. While the key data points are identified—such as the 74,000 visitors rising to 92,000 and the shift in satisfaction ratings—the reporting of figures contains some inaccuracies, for example stating that satisfaction was 45 percent in the past when combining specific categories. Overall, the response is relevant and covers the main trends, sitting comfortably at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The text is divided into paragraphs, but the overall logical arrangement and progression are weak. The opening and second paragraph are very short and fragmented, disrupting the flow of the writing. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as the overuse of 'However' and 'Also', and referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow the relationships between ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion of the essay falls short of a higher standard because information is not sequenced smoothly, leading to a disjointed reading experience.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic points about the chart, such as 'visitors', 'percentage', and 'refurbishment'. However, there are frequent word-choice errors, incorrect word forms, and spelling mistakes—such as 'elebrate' for illustrate, 'Museaum', 'segnificant', 'touriest', 'prefared', and 'reforbishment'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but these attempts are often inaccurate or unidiomatic. While communication is not entirely blocked, the numerous lexical inaccuracies prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response features a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms. However, grammatical accuracy is limited by frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions, such as 'people who visit at', 'the number of people is explore more', 'not had better experience', and 'visitors who not prefered to not answer'. Punctuation is also erratic in places, with misplaced commas and fragments. These errors are noticeable and require some effort from the reader to decode, though they rarely obscure the core meaning completely.
