Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report the main visitor totals accurately: attendance rose from 74,000 before refurbishment to 92,000 afterwards. You also include the satisfaction figures and identify the shift from dissatisfaction before the work to greater satisfaction afterwards. However, the response does not provide a clear, complete overview: the final line, “From the overall perspective”, is unfinished, so the key overall pattern is left unstated. Some comparisons are also imprecise; for example, 40% dissatisfied was the largest category before refurbishment, while 40% satisfied was the largest afterwards, but the response does not clearly compare the combined satisfied and dissatisfied groups across the two periods. A concise overview and more selective comparisons would make the main features clearer and better developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the visuals, gives the visitor totals, and then discusses each survey period in turn. This makes the information generally understandable. However, progression is limited by repetitive paragraph openings such as “To begin with”, “In addition to this” and “On other hand”, and some linking phrases are used inaccurately, including “on contrary” and “on opposite to this”. The final paragraph begins “From the overall perspective” but does not complete the thought, leaving the response without a proper conclusion or overview. Organise the survey data around the main contrast between the two years, and use fewer, more precise transitions to create a clearer progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing the visuals, including “total number of visitors”, “refurbishment”, “visitor satisfaction” and “no response”. These choices allow the reader to understand the topic, but the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate. For example, “numbers of Ashdown museum” does not describe the number of visitors, “refurbisherd” is misspelled, and “strongly dissatisfied” is less suitable than the chart category “dissatisfied”. Phrases such as “on opposite to this” also sound unnatural. Use the chart’s category labels consistently and choose standard reporting expressions; this will improve precision and reduce the effort needed to interpret your comparisons.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the main figures can usually be understood. However, errors in sentence structure and agreement are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “the visitors who were satisfied was about 40%” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the visitors who gave no response and was very dissatisfied was same” combines categories unclearly and has agreement errors. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and the final fragment, “From the overall perspective”, is incomplete. Practise forming complete comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your information easier to follow.
