Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main comparison in visitor numbers, reporting 74,000 before and 92,000 after refurbishment, and correctly note that dissatisfaction fell from 40% to 15%, while satisfaction rose from 30% to 40%. However, the overview is unclear: “the highest ratio” does not specify which measure increased, and the response does not summarise the overall shift from mostly dissatisfied visitors to mostly satisfied ones. Several important survey figures are omitted, including the rise in “very satisfied” responses from 15% to 35%; “very dissatisfied” also fell from 10% to 5%, while no response remained at 5%. The final comparison is incomplete because it gives only the satisfied figures without clearly naming the category. More precise selection and reporting of the key trends would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and a body paragraph covering the table and charts. It also uses sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Lastly.” However, progression is limited because the overview does not clearly state the main trends, and the body moves between visitor totals and satisfaction categories without a clear grouping or comparison pattern. Some linking is mechanical, while “however” is used where the relationship between ideas is not a contrast. The final sentence is also difficult to follow because “less numbers” is not explicitly connected to the satisfied category. Organise the body around the visitor total and then the main satisfaction changes, using clear references and links between each comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “dissatisfied,” and “satisfied,” so the reader can generally identify the subject of the report. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “total amount of visitors” and “total amount of peoples” are not natural ways to describe visitor counts; “ratio” is also unsuitable for these percentages. Phrases such as “big numbers” and “less numbers” are vague, and “visitors satisfactions” is an awkward form. These choices sometimes make the intended comparison less clear. Use precise terms such as “number of visitors,” “proportion of respondents,” and “percentage,” and vary the language used to describe increases and decreases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “however” and “which,” but control is inconsistent and the range remains limited. Errors in agreement and sentence construction occur in examples such as “the corresponding pie charts depicts” and “after the refurbishment shows the highest ratio.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, and punctuation, including “in two years period” and the lower-case “but” after a full stop. Some sentences are fragments or have unclear relationships between clauses, particularly “While, before refurbishment gives the lowest amount…” These errors can make the comparisons harder to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled contrast clauses and check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
