Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report the main figures accurately: visitors rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and the satisfaction categories are correctly described for both periods. The key overall change is also apparent in your account: positive ratings increased after refurbishment, while dissatisfaction fell. However, this overview is not stated clearly as a summary of the main trends; instead, the response moves directly into individual figures. The final claim that the satisfaction improvement “increase[d] the number of visitors” suggests a causal link that the charts do not establish. To strengthen the response, give a concise overview comparing the rise in visitor numbers with the shift from mostly dissatisfied to mostly satisfied, and report the figures without implying why visitor numbers changed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the visuals, describes visitor totals, and then discusses satisfaction before and after refurbishment. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow. However, the introduction repeats “the year” and uses a long, awkward description of the survey, while the body relies heavily on repeated openings such as “The pie chart illustrates.” The comparison between the two periods could be more directly connected rather than presented as separate lists. Use a clear overview paragraph and link corresponding changes with phrases such as “by contrast” or “whereas.” Also make references precise: “the second pie chart” is understandable, but naming it as the post-refurbishment survey would be clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfaction level,” “dissatisfied,” and “very dissatisfied,” and the reader can generally understand the comparisons. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “tourist in numbers,” “how much they satisfied were,” and “group of 15% visitors.” “Renovation” is understandable, but using “refurbishment” consistently would match the task more precisely. There is also repetition of “visitors” and “illustrates,” which limits the range. Aim for accurate chart language such as “the proportion of visitors,” “rated their visit,” and “accounted for,” while avoiding unnecessary synonyms that do not fit the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your response communicates the main comparisons, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make sentences difficult to process. For example, “The table give” has subject–verb disagreement, and “the total number of visitors were 74,000” uses the wrong verb form with a singular subject. The opening sentence also contains a faulty construction: “how much they satisfied were.” Articles, plurals, and sentence structure need attention, as in “most of visitors” and “same no response.” You attempt longer sentences, but these are not consistently controlled. Practise building accurate simple comparison sentences first, then combine them using clauses such as “whereas” or “while”; check agreement and word order in each sentence.
