Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main overall changes: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and satisfaction improved after refurbishment. You also report several survey figures accurately, including 35% very satisfied and 40% satisfied afterwards. However, the before-refurbishment figures are misrepresented: 40% were dissatisfied and 10% very dissatisfied, rather than 50% being dissatisfied; 45% were not satisfied, not satisfied in the positive sense. The overview would be clearer if it highlighted the shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction and distinguished the two negative categories. The response is also below the required 150 words, which limits the detail and development of the summary. Check each category against the chart and add a concise comparison of the main changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and details for the two periods. This helps the reader follow the basic comparison. However, progression is limited because the figures are mostly listed period by period rather than compared directly, and some linking words are awkward or repetitive, such as “Moreover,” “Afterwards,” and “Additionally.” The overview also combines several ideas in a sentence that is difficult to follow. Use clearer paragraphing and connect related changes—for example, contrast the fall in dissatisfaction with the rise in satisfaction after refurbishment. More precise referencing and a logical comparison of the categories would make the organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “satisfied,” and “proportion,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy: “Meseum,” “woth,” “Morevover,” “Additionaly,” and “thier.” Phrases such as “dissatisfied from the museum” and “gave any response about their visit” are not natural collocations. Repeating “people” and “museum” also makes the description less precise. Aim to use standard chart language consistently, such as “visitors,” “accounted for,” and “reported satisfaction,” and check spelling carefully. More accurate collocations would improve clarity without requiring unusually advanced vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main message can usually be understood. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “The charts illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “during the year before refurbishment 74000 people visited museum” needs clearer punctuation and an article before “museum.” The overview sentence beginning “Before the Rebuilt half percentage…” is difficult to interpret because its structure is faulty. Several sentences also run together without spaces after full stops. Practise accurate sentence patterns such as “The proportion of dissatisfied visitors fell from…” and proofread agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
