Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the topic and report several figures from the pre-refurbishment survey accurately: 5% gave no response, 40% were dissatisfied, and 30% were satisfied. However, the response is incomplete and addresses only part of the task. It does not give the visitor totals of 74,000 and 92,000, describe the post-refurbishment survey, or provide a clear overview of the main changes. The opening claim about a decrease followed by a rise is unclear and does not accurately summarise the visitor totals, which increased. The response also stops mid-sentence. It is 71 words, below the required 150, so there is not enough reporting or comparison to cover the task adequately. Include both periods and highlight the overall increase in visitors and improvement in satisfaction.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise information, beginning with an introduction and then moving to survey details. Linking expressions such as “Initially,” “However,” and “Moreover” show an effort to connect points. Nevertheless, the progression is difficult to follow because the opening sentence is unclear, the discussion does not move systematically through the two periods, and the final phrase, “On the other 15 percentage visitor showed,” is unfinished. The contrast signalled by “However” is also not clearly explained. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and the key comparisons, and complete each sentence so that the reader can follow how the figures relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “visitors,” “refurbishment,” “dissatisfied,” and “satisfied,” which allows the reader to recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning difficult to understand. For example, “who refurbished” does not clearly express that visitors came before the museum was refurbished, while “the refurbishment is first showed descrese” is not an effective way to describe a trend. There are also spelling errors such as “vistor,” “descrese,” and “responce,” and repeated use of “percentage visitor.” Build a more accurate range for describing data, such as “the proportion of visitors” and “rose from … to …,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently obscure the intended meaning. For instance, “The chart showing the numbers of visitors …” is a sentence fragment, and “the 40 persentage vistor was showed dissatisfied” has problems with sentence structure, agreement, and verb form. The opening also shifts between forms in “is first showed … I was showing,” making the trend hard to interpret. Articles and plural forms are often missing or inaccurate, as in “the vistor” and “30 percentage vistor.” Aim first for clear, complete sentences with a consistent past tense when reporting the two survey periods; then practise combining them with accurate comparison structures.
