Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall change: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and satisfaction improved after refurbishment. You also report the 40% dissatisfied figure before refurbishment and the 35% very satisfied figure afterwards. However, some details are inaccurate: 30% were satisfied, not “very dissatisfied,” before refurbishment; very dissatisfied was 10%. The overview’s claim that dissatisfaction “decreased almost half” is imprecise, since the dissatisfied share fell from 40% to 15%, while very dissatisfied fell from 10% to 5%. Several key comparisons are omitted, including the rise in satisfied visitors from 30% to 40%. The response is also four words below the required minimum. Include the main categories accurately and develop the comparisons more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing visitor numbers and survey results. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression is uneven: the visitor totals are separated from the survey comparisons, and the final paragraph ends after one post-refurbishment figure without completing a balanced comparison. Linking words such as “While,” “Followed by,” and “However” are sometimes used mechanically or create incomplete transitions; for example, “While, after a year…” is not a complete contrast. Group the satisfaction categories by period or by positive and negative responses, and use clear links such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile” only where the relationship is accurate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “dissatisfied,” “survey,” and “increased significantly,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, which makes parts of the report less precise. “Population” is not suitable for museum visitors; use “visitor total” or “number of visitors.” “Engagement” does not describe the survey result, and “result was completely opposite” is vague. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “extreamly,” “vist,” “choosed,” “responed,” and “satisifed.” Use standard chart-reporting terms such as “proportion,” “share,” and “accounted for,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the main message is usually understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence boundaries, articles, and clause construction. For example, “Overall, the survey…” needs a space after the comma, while “While, after a year, dissatisfaction rate decreased…” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence and is missing an article before “dissatisfaction rate.” The construction “that was 92,000” is also awkward when referring to a total, and “40% of the total people were dissatisfied on their vist” has an unsuitable preposition pattern. Aim for complete, direct sentences such as “Visitor numbers rose to 92,000,” and proofread punctuation and article use.
