Student answer (Band 5.0)

The table illustrates the participation of visitors to museum the year before and after it was renovated. The charts demonstrate the satisfaction of visitors during the same time periods.

Overall, the significant number of tourists visited the museum after it was repaired. The visitors who were very dissatisfied with the museum before and after repairment remained same. While visitors who were showing full satifaction increased massively after renovation of museum.

Before renovation, 74,000 travellers visited the museum. The amount increased massively after repairment to 92,000. The chart displayed the result on the basis of satisfaction. The high number of visitors were dissatisfied with the museum before renovation. The ratio dropped to 15% after repairment. However, the satisfaction level of guest increased massively to 35% after upgradation of museum. There were visitors increased the proportion to 40% on the basis of very disatisfaction. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main visitor total correctly, rising from 74,000 to 92,000, and note the fall in dissatisfaction from 40% to 15%. However, the response covers the survey data only partially and contains a serious misreading: “There were visitors increased the proportion to 40% on the basis of very disatisfaction” assigns 40% to very dissatisfied visitors, whereas this figure represents satisfied visitors after refurbishment. The overview also says very dissatisfied visitors “remained same,” but the share fell from 10% to 5%. Important comparisons, including the rise in satisfied visitors from 30% to 40%, are not clearly reported. The response also stops mid-sentence and is five words below the required minimum. Select the key changes accurately and complete the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph giving figures. Some linking words, such as “Overall,” “However” and “On the contrary,” show an effort to connect ideas. Nevertheless, progression is difficult to follow because the overview repeats points that are then revisited, and the survey details are not presented in a clear sequence. The final phrase, “On the contrary,” is left unfinished, so the response has no complete ending. Some connections are also unclear: the sentence about the proportion reaching 40% does not make its relationship to the preceding figures clear. Group the satisfaction results systematically and finish each sentence and paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing the topic, including “satisfaction,” “dissatisfied,” “increased” and “dropped.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning difficult to understand. For example, “participation of visitors” does not describe visitor numbers, while “repairment” and “upgradation” are unsuitable for this context. “Full satifaction” is imprecise, and “massively” is repeated rather than using more measured language appropriate for reporting data. There is also a spelling error in “satifaction.” Use standard chart-reporting terms such as “number of visitors,” “refurbishment,” “proportion” and “rose considerably,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast beginning “While visitors who were showing…” and a sentence starting “Although” is not present; however, the attempted structures are often incomplete or inaccurate. For example, “The high number of visitors were dissatisfied” has subject–verb disagreement, and “The visitors who were very dissatisfied … remained same” is missing an article before “same.” The clause “There were visitors increased the proportion” is not grammatically complete, and the final “On the contrary,” is a fragment. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “to museum” and “after renovation of museum.” Aim for complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and clause structure.
