Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main overall changes: visitor numbers rose after refurbishment, dissatisfaction fell, and the very satisfied share increased. You also report the total of 74,000 and several pre-refurbishment percentages accurately. However, the response covers the data only partially: it gives no after-refurbishment visitor total of 92,000, omits the fall in very dissatisfied responses, and does not report the after-refurbishment dissatisfied figure of 15%. The phrase “satisfied with 10%” also mislabels the very dissatisfied category. The response is below the required 150 words, leaving important comparisons undeveloped. To strengthen the summary, include the key figures for both periods and compare the satisfaction categories systematically.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two periods. This helps the reader identify the topic and follow the broad before-and-after comparison. However, the progression is incomplete because the final paragraph stops after two post-refurbishment figures, without covering the remaining categories or drawing the comparison together. Some linking and punctuation are awkward, as in “In the same duration ,” and the overview runs several ideas together. Use clearer transitions such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile,” and organise the figures in a consistent order across both periods. A fuller final paragraph would make the information more logically complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “dissatisfied,” “proportion,” and “increased,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural choices make parts difficult to interpret. “Travellers” is not the best term for museum visitors, “development” is imprecise for refurbishment, and “non responsive persons” is an awkward description of people who gave no response. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Satified” and “incread.” Choose precise chart language and check spelling carefully. For example, use “visitors,” “renovation,” and “no response” consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the opening and overview communicate the general subject. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with errors in agreement, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation. For example, “The charts compares” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “asking travellers are they satisfied” uses an incorrect embedded question structure. “Ashdown Museum showed significantly grew” is also faulty, and the opening sentence is joined awkwardly. Capitalisation and spacing around punctuation are inconsistent. Practise accurate patterns such as “The charts compare the results of surveys asking whether visitors were satisfied” and “visitor numbers increased significantly.” More reliable sentence forms would make your comparisons clearer.
