Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You include both the visitor totals and survey results, and the figures of 74,000 and 92,000 are reported accurately. You also identify the broad improvement in satisfaction after refurbishment, including the rise in the “very satisfied” share to 35 and the fall in dissatisfaction to 15. However, the overview is unclear: it compares the visitor total with “other categories in survey” rather than summarising the main survey changes. Some details are misreported or difficult to interpret. Before refurbishment, 40% were dissatisfied and 10% very dissatisfied, but the response reverses these figures; it also gives 15 and 5 for “very satisfied” and “no response” without clearly assigning them. State the key contrasts accurately and distinguish the two periods throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has separate paragraphs for an introduction, overview and details, and it attempts to organise information with phrases such as “Overall,” “In detail” and “Furthermore.” This gives the reader some sense of structure. However, progression is weak because the overview does not clearly summarise the survey trends, and the final two paragraphs repeat or fragment information rather than developing a clear comparison. Several links are confusing, especially “In contrast” before the figures for dissatisfaction and “Moreover” before the figures for very satisfied and no response. Group the data by period or by positive and negative responses, and use clear references such as “before refurbishment” and “after refurbishment” in each comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “satisfied” and “dissatisfied,” and you attempt to vary expressions with “considerably higher” and “accounted for.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning hard to follow. For example, “the figure to visitors” is not a natural way to describe visitor numbers, and “accounted for at 30” is awkward. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “refurbihment,” “Ahsdown” and “norepose.” Use precise terms such as “visitor numbers,” “the proportion of respondents” and “stood at,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of sentence forms, including a comparison with “whereas” and a contrast introduced by “while.” However, many sentences contain errors in structure, articles, agreement or punctuation, and these sometimes obscure the intended comparison. For instance, “the result of surveys of visitors who are satisfied before refurbishment accounted for at 30” has an unclear subject and faulty verb pattern; “after refurbishment who are satisfied from30 to 40” is not a complete grammatical clause. Commas are frequently attached to the following word, and spacing around figures is inconsistent. Build shorter, complete sentences first, then add accurate comparison clauses, for example: “The satisfied share rose from 30% to 40%.”
