Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both the visitor totals and the satisfaction results, and the figures you report match the chart: visitors increased from 74,000 to 92,000, while dissatisfaction fell from 40% to 15%. Your overview identifies the main shifts, and the detail paragraphs make relevant comparisons. This meets the task well and shows some of the stronger feature selection expected at the next level. However, the overview could be more precise: “More customers were satisfied” does not clearly distinguish the rise in the combined satisfied categories from the change in each category. Also, “dissatisfied visitors had a significant decrease in its numbers” is unclear because the chart gives percentages, not visitor counts. State the overall satisfaction shift directly and consistently describe survey results as proportions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear four-paragraph structure: introduction, overview, and separate descriptions of the two periods. This makes the information easy to locate, and “However” signals the move to the post-refurbishment figures. The progression is generally logical, but cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear. For example, “during the year after refurbishment” is repeated several times, and the final sentence repeats the increase already stated in the overview and preceding sentence. The reference in “its numbers” is also unclear. To improve, group the key comparisons across periods rather than listing each year separately, use pronouns only when their reference is unmistakable, and avoid repeating the same trend.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a suitable range of task vocabulary, including “refurbished,” “dissatisfied,” “accounting for,” and “dramatic rise,” so the main information is communicated. However, some choices are imprecise or repetitive: “tourists” and “customers” are less appropriate than “visitors” for a museum survey, while “very disappointed” does not match the chart’s category “very dissatisfied.” “Dramatically,” “significantly,” and “dramatic rise” also repeat the same idea without adding precision. There are spelling errors in “refurbisment” and “dissapointed.” Aim for accurate category labels and use varied, natural language for increases and decreases; this will make the vocabulary more controlled and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more developed sentence forms, and most of the meaning remains clear. For example, the opening sentence and the sentence beginning “However” communicate the two visitor totals effectively. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, sentence structure, and agreement. In “However, number of visitors rose,” the noun phrase needs an article; “in which 40% of visitors were satisfied” is an awkward construction linking the total to the survey breakdown; and “Dissatisfied visitors had a significant decrease in its numbers” has unclear agreement and reference. The final sentence also repeats “after the year after refurbishment,” making the time phrase cumbersome. Use direct sentence patterns such as “After refurbishment, the total rose to…” and check articles and pronoun agreement.
