Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the visitor totals correctly: attendance rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and you mention that the no-response figure stayed at 5%. However, the survey data are repeatedly misreported: after refurbishment, 40% were satisfied, not 5%, while before refurbishment 30% were satisfied, not 10%. You also say dissatisfaction fell by 25, but the dissatisfied category fell from 40% to 15%; very dissatisfied fell from 10% to 5%, rather than increasing. The response gives no clear overview of the main changes and ends with an unfinished conclusion. It therefore addresses the task only minimally. It is also 26 words below the required minimum. Check each figure against the chart and summarise the overall shift from dissatisfaction to satisfaction.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: you introduce the table and charts, then compare the two periods, and use linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In addition to that.” However, the progression is difficult to follow because the comparisons are not consistently grouped or clearly expressed. The opening is split into two fragments, and “To conclude this” is left unfinished, so the response has no completed ending. Some connectors also imply relationships that are unclear or inaccurate. A clearer structure would use a brief introduction, an overview of the main trends, and a paragraph comparing the satisfaction categories, with each comparison stated directly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “surveys,” and “dissatisfaction,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms make the meaning less precise: “dipcs” appears to be a misspelling of “depicts,” “there visiting experience” is awkward, and “very dissatisfaction” is not the correct form. “People” is also imprecise when reporting survey percentages; use “visitors” or describe the proportion. Spelling errors such as “reffurbishment” are noticeable. Build a small set of accurate chart-reporting expressions and use category labels consistently, such as “very satisfied,” “satisfied,” and “dissatisfied.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses short, simple statements and attempts a few longer structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships unclear. For example, “The table dipcs the numbers … year before” lacks accurate sentence construction and an article, while “10 people is satisfied” has subject–verb disagreement and an incorrect description of the data. The opening sentence beginning “Where charts display” is a fragment, and the final phrase “To conclude this” is incomplete. Punctuation spacing is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops. Practise complete sentences with accurate articles and agreement, and use straightforward comparative patterns such as “The proportion of visitors who were satisfied rose from 30% to 40%.”
