Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the topic and report the main visitor total rising from 74,000 to 92,000, and your overview recognises that satisfaction improved after refurbishment. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: it gives no survey percentages, so the major shift from dissatisfaction before refurbishment to satisfaction afterwards is not demonstrated. The visitor figure is also written as “74,00 thousands,” which makes it inaccurate and unclear. In addition, the response ends mid-sentence (“after ref”), leaving the comparison incomplete. The required minimum length is not met, which contributes to the very limited coverage. To develop the report, include the key satisfaction figures and compare the two periods in a complete, concise account.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic overall sequence: an introductory sentence is followed by an overview and then an attempt to give a specific visitor figure. The opening also uses “while” to distinguish the table from the charts. However, the response is too brief to establish a clear progression through the information, and the final sentence is cut off at “after ref,” leaving the report unfinished. The overview repeats the general idea of increased visitors and satisfaction without leading into supporting survey details. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for the introduction, overview and key comparisons, and connect the figures with clear references such as “before refurbishment” and “after refurbishment.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “pie charts,” “visitors” and “satisfaction,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate: “satisfactory rate” is not a natural way to describe survey responses, while “satisfication” is misspelled and “Ashdowm” is also misspelled. “By surveys results” is an awkward phrase, and “increased significantly” is repeated without more precise language for the chart’s changes. Aim for accurate collocations such as “visitor satisfaction levels” and “survey results,” and use terms like “rose” or “fell” to report the contrasting percentages.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few different sentence patterns, including a complex opening with “while” and an overview beginning “Overall.” However, the range remains limited, and errors occur in basic sentence construction. In “the number of visitors were,” the singular subject “number” requires “was”; “and it increased” also has an unclear reference. The phrase “before refurbishment” needs an article in this context, and the last sentence is incomplete, ending with “after ref.” These problems make parts of the report difficult to follow. Practise complete sentences with clear subjects and references, and check agreement and articles before finishing the response.
