Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the main topic and include the visitor totals, correctly noting that attendance rose from 74,000 to 92,000. You also recognise the broad shift towards greater satisfaction after refurbishment. However, several survey figures are inaccurate or contradictory: before refurbishment, satisfaction was 30%, not 10%, and dissatisfaction was 40%, not 4%; afterwards, satisfaction was 40%, not 35%, and dissatisfaction was 15%, not 4%. The response also lacks a clear, accurate overview of the most important changes. It is below the required 150 words, which limits the detail available. Select the key comparisons, check each figure against the chart, and summarise the overall pattern clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response makes an attempt to move from the year before refurbishment to the year after, and it ends by comparing visitor totals. This gives the reader a basic sense of the intended comparison. However, the information is presented as one long, largely unpunctuated sequence, so the categories and periods are difficult to follow. Repetition and contradictory statements—for example, listing satisfaction figures more than once—also interrupt progression. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and the detailed comparisons, and group the figures by period or satisfaction level. Clear sentence boundaries and simple linking phrases such as “By contrast” would make the relationships between the data easier to understand.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percent,” “very satisfied,” “dissatisfied,” “refurbishment,” and “visitors.” This shows awareness of the chart’s subject and its categories. However, the vocabulary is basic and highly repetitive, and frequent spelling errors make several phrases difficult to interpret, such as “reburishment,” “satisfictin,” and “visitnig.” Some expressions are also unclear or unsuitable for describing data, including “satisfied person is just” and “data was changed.” Aim for accurate chart language and vary how you report comparisons—for example, use “accounted for,” “rose to,” or “fell to.” Check spelling carefully, especially for the key terms repeated throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The response attempts to report several figures and make comparisons, but it relies almost entirely on simple clauses joined together, with very limited control of sentence boundaries. Errors are frequent and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. For example, “the dissatisfied is 4 percent” has an unclear subject and structure, while “that why people is visiting more than before” lacks the necessary verb form and agreement. The opening, “IN THISE CHART SHOWS,” is also not a complete, correctly formed sentence. Practise writing short, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “The proportion who were satisfied rose after refurbishment.” Then add accurate past-tense reporting and punctuation.
