Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover both the visitor totals and the satisfaction surveys, and the main figures are mostly reported accurately: visitors rose from 74,000 to 92,000, while dissatisfaction fell from 40% to 15%. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate. “The satisfied person was highest” does not identify the overall shift in satisfaction, and the claim that “very dissatisfied and no response was the lowest” overlooks that no response remained at 5% in both years while very dissatisfied fell. There is also a misreporting of the pre-refurbishment figures: 10% was very dissatisfied, not very satisfied. To strengthen the response, give a clear overview of the rise in visitor numbers and the marked improvement in satisfaction, then compare the main categories precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, useful structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two years. This makes the information reasonably easy to locate. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and the repeated sentence openings—“During the year before…” and “During the year after…”—make the report feel list-like. Some links between ideas are also unclear; for example, “which was the most dissatisfied at 40” does not clearly connect the visitor total to the survey result. Use a more deliberate sequence, such as reporting the overall visitor change first, then grouping positive and negative satisfaction responses. Clearer referencing and linking would help the comparisons flow rather than read as separate facts.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “total number of visitors,” and “dissatisfied,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. “Satisfied person” is not a natural way to describe survey respondents, while “the satisfies person” is an incorrect form. “The pie chart illustrate” also shows difficulty selecting the right form of a task-related word. Spelling errors such as “refubishment” and “Asdown” further reduce precision. Aim to use standard chart-reporting phrases consistently, such as “the proportion of visitors who were satisfied,” and check spelling and word forms before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences use simple structures, and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons, but grammatical control is inconsistent. The opening contains a faulty construction: “among the year before and the year after to Ashdown museum it was refurbished.” There are also agreement and verb-form errors, including “The pie chart illustrate” and “The very dissatisfied and no response visitors was.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention: “74,000. which was…” incorrectly separates a dependent clause, and there is no space after the first full stop. Try building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb—for example, “Visitor numbers increased from 74,000 before refurbishment to 92,000 afterwards”—before attempting more complex structures.
