Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover both the visitor totals and the satisfaction surveys, and the increase from 74,000 to 92,000 is reported accurately. However, several survey figures are misassigned: before refurbishment, 30% were satisfied and 10% very dissatisfied, not the reverse; after refurbishment, the figures are reported correctly. Your final comparison also says very satisfied visitors increased “by thirty five percent,” whereas the increase was 20 percentage points, from 15% to 35%. A clear overview of the main shift—from mostly dissatisfied responses before the work to mostly satisfied responses afterwards—would help select and summarise the key features. The response addresses the task, but these inaccuracies and the limited overview leave parts of the information unclear. (18 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, understandable structure: it introduces the visuals, describes the visitor totals, then reports survey results for each period and attempts a comparison. This gives the reader a general route through the information. However, progression is weakened by repeated use of “on the other hand” and “Also,” including where no contrast is needed. The final comparison is brief and does not clearly bring together the overall change in satisfaction. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas within the survey sections read mainly as a list of figures, and some references such as “these two results” are vague. Grouping positive and negative responses and using more precise links would make the organisation clearer and less repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary such as “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “satisfied” and “dissatisfied,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several expressions are awkward or imprecise, which sometimes makes the intended comparison harder to follow. For example, “quantity of visitors” is less natural than “number of visitors,” and “quite high then the numbers before” does not express the comparison accurately. “The chart below” is also imprecise because the task includes a table and charts. Repeated reliance on “on the other hand” limits flexibility. Aim for accurate collocations and varied language for describing increases, decreases and survey categories; the suggestions below offer practical alternatives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates its main points using simple sentences and some attempts at longer structures, such as “When we compare these two results…” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “The total number … were 74000,” where the singular subject requires a singular verb, and “it is beeing noticed,” which has an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “The surveys … shows” also has subject–verb disagreement, while “did not responded” uses the wrong verb form after “did.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, including lowercase sentence openings after full stops. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, agreement, and sentence punctuation before adding more complex structures.
