Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the subject and make an attempt to compare the two periods, but the report only partially covers the task and several key details are inaccurate or unclear. The visitor totals are 74,000 and 92,000, whereas you write “7400” for the first figure. You also reverse the overall satisfaction pattern: before refurbishment, dissatisfaction was the largest group, but afterwards the largest group was satisfied, not “very dissatisfied.” Some percentages are reported without clearly naming their categories, and the final sentence is unfinished. The response is also below the required 150 words. To improve, give a clear overview of the main changes, accurately pair each percentage with its category, and complete the comparison of the two periods.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence is followed by an overview and then details about visitor numbers and satisfaction. Phrases such as “At a glance” and “To begin with” help signal this structure. However, progression is difficult to follow because several comparisons are compressed into one long passage, and the categories are not consistently identified. The final phrase, “however other reaction were,” leaves the report incomplete and disrupts the flow. Some linking words, including “whereas” and “however,” are used without clear sentence boundaries. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and detailed comparisons, and connect each figure explicitly to its satisfaction category.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “percentage,” “dissatisfied,” and “respectively,” which shows an attempt to describe the charts rather than rely only on general language. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning harder to understand. For example, “people visited to” and “paid their visit” are not natural collocations, while “different level of satisfaction” is imprecise. There are also spelling errors such as “glace,” “respecively,” and “aftyer.” Aim for standard chart-reporting phrases such as “the number of visitors,” “visitors who were dissatisfied,” and “accounted for,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a comparison with “while” and a clause beginning “that most of the visitor were dissatisfied.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect clarity. Examples include “the table and pie charts illustrates,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “most of the visitor were,” where the plural form is needed. The sentence beginning “whereas year after it that it increased” has an unclear structure, and several sentence boundaries are missing or incorrectly punctuated, as in “7400. whereas.” Try writing shorter, complete sentences first, checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation before adding more complex comparisons.
