Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two periods and report the visitor totals accurately: 74,000 before and 92,000 after, an increase of 18,000. You also give the correct percentages for all five satisfaction categories in the first survey. However, the response does not provide an overview of the main changes, and the second survey description stops after mentioning dissatisfaction, leaving its key figures—40% satisfied and 35% very satisfied—unreported. This makes the summary partial and leaves the central improvement in satisfaction unclear. The opening largely repeats the task wording rather than selecting the main features. To strengthen the response, state the overall rise in visitors and the shift from mostly dissatisfied to mostly satisfied, then compare the important categories in both years. (33 words were copied from the task prompt.)
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response follows a basic sequence: visitor totals, the first survey, and then the second survey. Paragraph breaks also help distinguish these sections. However, progression is incomplete because the final paragraph ends mid-description, and there is no concluding overview to connect the figures or highlight the main contrast. Linking expressions such as “Firstly” and “Now” are used, but they do not create a clear comparison between the two surveys; the categories are mostly listed one by one. Some references, such as “this graph” and “this parts,” are unclear or repetitive. Organise the response into an introduction, a concise overview, and two comparison-focused detail paragraphs, using links such as “by contrast” and “whereas” to show relationships.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “satisfied,” and “dissatisfied,” so the reader can generally identify the subject and categories. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated uses of “this covers” and “total graph.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “satistifed,” “devided,” and “hige,” which reduce accuracy and polish. More precise chart language would help you report the data efficiently—for example, “accounted for” or “represented” instead of repeatedly saying “covers.” Use “proportion” or “share” for survey percentages, and vary the wording when comparing satisfaction levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the visitor totals are understandable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with frequent errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “total numbers of visitors … is 74,000” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “the 92,000 visitors” uses an unnecessary article. The sentence “Before and after we see difference of 18,000 visitors” is missing an article and has an awkward structure. Several clauses are joined into long, repetitive sentences, and the final sentence is incomplete. Aim for complete, controlled sentences such as “Visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000,” and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
