Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both the visitor totals and the satisfaction results, and the figures you report are accurate. The overview identifies the rise in attendance from 74,000 to 92,000 and the substantial fall in dissatisfaction, while the body gives relevant category percentages for both years. This meets the task well and shows some of the sharper selection expected at a higher level. However, the overview’s claim that satisfied visitors recorded the highest figures is not consistently true across the two years: dissatisfaction was the largest category before refurbishment. Make the main contrast explicit—that satisfaction became dominant after refurbishment, whereas dissatisfaction led before—and distinguish the two satisfaction categories more clearly. This would make the overview more precise and the comparisons more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by a paragraph on each period. This makes the information easy to locate, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal the shift to the post-refurbishment results. However, some linking is mechanical or does not express the relationship precisely. “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “Finally” are used to add points without always clarifying their importance, while “On the other hand” suggests a contrast that could be stated more directly. The sentence beginning “Among another 30%” also makes the relationship between the remaining categories difficult to follow. Group the satisfaction categories consistently and use clearer comparisons between years to strengthen progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “survey,” “dissatisfied,” and “no response,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. There are also attempts at more varied reporting language, such as “surges” and “upgraderd,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. For example, “satisfied visitors rate” and “dissatisfied rate” are awkward, while “introduced a up” does not clearly describe an increase. Spelling and word-form errors such as “upgrated” and “rater” are noticeable. Aim for standard chart language and accurate collocations, such as “the proportion of visitors who were satisfied” and “rose to.” This would make your vocabulary more controlled and appropriate to an academic summary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main figures are usually understandable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, particularly with verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “dissatisfied rate drop,” “total visitor after refurbishment rise,” and “both of these are 5%,” where tense or agreement does not match the time period or subject. The construction “satisfied rate introduced a up of 40%” is also difficult to parse. Some sentences combine several figures without clear grammatical links, as in “Among another 30%...” Practise forming accurate past-tense comparisons and complete clauses—for example, “The proportion who were satisfied rose to 40% after refurbishment.” More reliable sentence patterns would improve clarity while allowing you to retain varied structures.
