Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report the main satisfaction categories and compare the two periods, including the rise in very satisfied visitors and the fall in dissatisfaction. However, the after-refurbishment total is inaccurate: it was 92,000, not 94,000. The overview identifies the higher visitor total after refurbishment, but “minimum count of commuters” is unclear and does not clearly summarise the overall shift from mostly dissatisfied responses to mostly satisfied ones. Some details are also expressed unclearly, such as saying dissatisfaction “declined at 15%” rather than specifying that the dissatisfied share fell to 15%. The response is 134 words, below the 150-word minimum; 13 words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count. Add a clearer overview and report the figures precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and detail sentences comparing satisfaction categories. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In detail,” “whereas,” and “Interestingly” help signal relationships between points. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the overview is vague, and the final sentence returns to visitor totals after the satisfaction details without a strong transition. Some comparisons are compressed into phrases such as “which inclined by 20%,” making the relationship between the starting and ending figures harder to follow. Organise the details into a clearer sequence—for example, first compare positive responses, then negative responses, and finish with visitor totals—and use precise references to the percentages.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “proportion,” “declined,” “remained same,” and “refurbishment.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate for this task. “Commuters” refers to people travelling regularly to work, not museum visitors, while “restore,” “development,” and “masses” do not fit the intended meaning. Phrases such as “count of people satisfied” and “number of dissatisfaction” are also awkward, and “visiters” is misspelled. These choices sometimes make the data difficult to interpret. Use the chart’s category labels consistently and favour standard reporting phrases such as “the proportion of visitors who were dissatisfied fell to 15%.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including comparisons with “while” and “whereas,” and the main message is generally recoverable. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “total number of visitors are maximum” has incorrect agreement and phrasing, while “15% people was very satisfied” needs a plural subject and a suitable construction. “The proportion … remained same” is missing an article, and “the total count ofmasses visits” has a faulty grammatical structure. These recurring problems make several sentences difficult to read smoothly. Practise accurate patterns such as “The proportion of visitors who were satisfied rose from 30% to 40%” and check subject–verb agreement and articles.
