Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main overall direction: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and satisfaction improved after refurbishment. However, several survey details are inaccurate or unclear. The very dissatisfied share fell from 10% to 5%, not from 30% to 5%; 30% refers to satisfied visitors before refurbishment. You also say the satisfied and very satisfied proportions increased by 10% to 20%, whereas they rose from 30% to 40% and from 15% to 35%, respectively. The overview is present but vague, and the response does not fully select and report the key comparisons. It is also 16 words below the 150-word minimum, limiting the detail provided.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it introduces the visuals, gives visitor totals, discusses survey results, and ends with an overall statement. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and the overview appears in the opening before the details, then is repeated at the end. Linking words such as “However” and “In contrast” are used, but the contrast they introduce is not always clear or accurate. For example, the sentence about satisfaction combines several figures without clearly distinguishing the two satisfaction categories. Paragraphing is present, but the ideas within paragraphs need more logical sequencing and clearer references to the before-and-after periods. Use one concise overview, then separate the visitor totals from the survey comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt task-related vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “proportion,” “dissatisfied,” and “satisfaction level,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. “Slight rose” and “Dec-liement” do not express the visitor trend clearly, while “Finding suggested rose of new 18000 visitors” is not a natural way to report the increase. “Neutral response” is also less precise than the chart’s “no response.” Spelling and word-form problems, such as “visitor's satisfaction” and “as we as,” further reduce clarity. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language rather than forcing less familiar expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. For example, “the numbers of visitors increases” has subject–verb disagreement, and “satisfaction level vary” also needs a singular verb. The phrase “rose of satisfaction level vary from 15% to 35%” is difficult to parse because the sentence structure is incomplete. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and punctuation, including “the Ashdown museum” and the comma before “However.” These errors sometimes make comparisons hard to understand. Practise building clear comparative sentences, such as “The proportion who were very satisfied rose from 15% to 35%,” and check agreement and sentence boundaries.
