Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You report the visitor total accurately, noting its rise from 74,000 to 92,000, and include figures from both satisfaction surveys. However, several key categories are misreported: before refurbishment, 10% were very dissatisfied, not 30%, and 30% were satisfied, not 10%; after refurbishment, 35% were very satisfied, not 5% less than the 40% satisfied group. These errors weaken the account of the main changes. The final overview only says that ordinary satisfaction remained higher than very high satisfaction; it misses the more important overall shift from dissatisfaction before the work to satisfaction afterwards. Select the main trends accurately and use the overview to compare the two periods as a whole.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an opening paragraph introduces the table, followed by separate paragraphs for the two survey periods and a concluding overview. This makes the information broadly easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by repeated or awkward linking, such as “However” at the start of several sentences and “followed by, by” in the after-refurbishment paragraph. Some comparisons are also difficult to track because the figures are inaccurate, and the conclusion does not bring together the main change across both periods. Use a clearer sequence—visitor totals, overall satisfaction shift, then supporting category figures—and vary linking expressions so they show precise relationships rather than simply marking each sentence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “satisfied,” and “dissatisfied,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “the number of visitors … become 92,000,” “individuals where not satisfied,” and “people who are normally satisfied.” Repeated use of “people” and “number” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors such as “befor,” “refurishment,” and “dissatisfied” misspelled as “dissssatisfied” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Build a more accurate set of chart-description phrases, such as “the proportion of visitors,” “rose to,” and “very dissatisfied,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, for example, “However, according to the table it is clear that…” and sentences comparing satisfaction categories. However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships harder to understand. Examples include “The given table and the pie charts shows,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “the number of visitors … was 74,000 which increased and become 92,000,” which has an incorrect verb form and an unclear construction. There are also errors in articles, sentence boundaries, and punctuation, including the lower-case “the” after a full stop. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past-tense reporting, and keep comparisons in shorter, well-controlled sentences before attempting longer structures.
