Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the overall rise in visitor numbers, from 74,000 to 92,000, and correctly note that dissatisfaction fell from 40% to 15% while non-response stayed at 5%. These are relevant main features. However, the report covers the survey results only partially: it omits the increases in the satisfied and very satisfied groups, which are central to the comparison, and the overview does not summarise the overall shift in satisfaction. The statement that 40% were “not satisfied” is also imprecise because this figure refers specifically to dissatisfied visitors. The response is 105 words, below the required 150, so the task is underdeveloped. Include the missing categories and compare the two periods more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence is followed by an overview-like paragraph and a final detail about the year before refurbishment. Linking expressions such as “Overall” and “In contrast” help signal relationships. However, the final sentence is isolated and does not develop a clear comparison, while the main paragraph combines visitor totals and satisfaction figures without a consistent sequence. Some connections are also unclear, as in “while 15% accounted for dissatisfied declined.” Use a clearer structure: introduction, overview, then a paragraph comparing visitor numbers and one comparing satisfaction categories. This would give the information a more logical progression and make the relationships easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “visitors,” “dissatisfied,” “figure,” and “remained unchanged,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “the satisfication of the people,” “before restored,” and “after the year of refurnishment.” “Not satisfied” is also too broad for the chart category “dissatisfied.” Aim for accurate chart language and check spelling carefully; precise terms such as “visitor satisfaction,” “before refurbishment,” and “the proportion of dissatisfied visitors” would make the comparisons clearer and more appropriate for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the reader can understand the basic direction of the visitor and dissatisfaction trends. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “74,000 visitors are visted” has an incorrect verb form, while “40% visitores are not satisfied” does not use an appropriate past-tense structure. The sentence beginning “In contrast” also lacks a clear grammatical relationship between its clauses. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons with complete clauses, such as “The proportion of dissatisfied visitors fell from 40% to 15%.”
