Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Details pertaining to tourists to Ashdown museum after and before redevelopment in a year and result of surveys visitors opinion of both durations are delineated by the provided chart.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that around 18,000 of visitors were more attracted to a museum after the refurbishment. In the given pie chart, it can be also visible that the proportion of tourists, who were very satisfied was increase about 55%.
Scrutinizing deeper into the chart, the proportion of dissatisfied before the redevelopment was equal to the ration of satisfied visitors after the refurbishment. Also, the addition of dissatisfied and very dissatisfied was 50% of the before refurbishment pie chart. It can be also observe that the ratio of visitors, who gave no response remain steady.
Digging deeper into the chart, the numbers of very satisfied tourists was a half of satisfied visitors before the refurbishment. Moreover, the total of visitors, who gave no response and who was very dissatisfied after refurbishment was equal to the ratio of very satisfied tourists before refurbishment.
Hereby, I conclude my report.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main increase in attendance, from 74,000 to 92,000, and note that the share giving no response stayed unchanged. However, the overview is incomplete and one key trend is inaccurate: very satisfied visitors rose from 15% to 35%, an increase of 20 percentage points, not “about 55%.” The response also focuses on several arithmetic comparisons rather than clearly summarising the overall shift from mostly dissatisfied feedback before refurbishment to mostly satisfied feedback afterwards. Some comparisons are correct, such as the 40% dissatisfied share before matching the 40% satisfied share after, but the main survey changes need clearer, more complete reporting and accurate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has separate paragraphs and uses sequencing phrases such as “Overall,” “Scrutinizing deeper,” and “Moreover,” so there is some organisation. However, progression is limited: the two body paragraphs repeat the same “Digging deeper” idea and present isolated comparisons rather than grouping the figures into a clear before-and-after account. The opening and closing (“Hereby, I conclude my report”) also take space without helping the reader follow the data. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “both durations” are not especially clear. Organise the report around an overview followed by the visitor total and the main satisfaction changes, using comparisons to connect related figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You show an adequate range and attempt less common vocabulary, including “proportion,” “redevelopment,” “Scrutinizing,” and “remain steady.” The meaning is generally recoverable, but several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing charts: “tourists” and “attracted to a museum” do not accurately express visitor numbers, while “the addition of dissatisfied and very dissatisfied” is an awkward way to describe combined percentages. “Pie chart” is also inaccurate because the task presents survey charts without establishing that they are pie charts. Aim for precise, natural reporting language such as “visitors,” “the proportion who were dissatisfied,” and “the combined share.” This would make the vocabulary more suitable and controlled for an academic data summary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex structures, including relative clauses (“visitors, who gave no response”) and comparisons with “equal to.” However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “the proportion … was increase” should be “the proportion … increased,” and “it can be also observe” should be “it can also be observed.” In “the numbers … was a half,” the plural subject requires “were,” while “who was very dissatisfied” should agree with the plural visitors or be recast. These errors do not usually prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and use direct, complete sentences when reporting changes.
