Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main direction of change: visitor numbers rose, very satisfied responses increased, and dissatisfied responses fell. The figures you give are broadly accurate: attendance rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and the very satisfied share increased by 20 percentage points, while dissatisfied fell by 25 percentage points. However, the response covers the task only partially. It omits the satisfied, very dissatisfied and no-response categories, and gives no complete comparison of the survey results. The overview is brief and the selected details are not developed. The response is also 60 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to summarise the main features adequately. Include a fuller overview and compare the key categories using the chart’s percentages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening statement is followed by an overview and then some figures. The contrast marker “whereas” also signals a comparison. However, the progression is limited, with the final information compressed into one sentence and no clear separation between the overall trends and supporting details. Linking is sparse and sometimes awkward, as in “increased by18,000 by what shown on table below,” which makes the relationship between the table and survey data difficult to follow. Develop a clearer sequence: introduce both visuals, summarise the main trends, then compare the survey categories in a separate paragraph. Use linking expressions to clarify comparisons rather than joining several points loosely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “visitors,” “surveys,” “satisfied,” “dissatisfied,” “increased” and “decreased,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “result of surveys,” “people after refurbished” and “percantge.” Repetition of “increased” and “decreased” also restricts the description of trends. These errors make parts of the report less clear and less natural. Aim for precise chart language, such as “survey responses,” “after the refurbishment,” “proportion” and “fell,” and use a wider range of accurate terms to describe changes and comparisons.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a few connected sentences and use a contrast clause, but the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently. For example, “the very satisfied people after refurbished was increased” has problems with the verb form and agreement, while “the number of visitors after refurbished increased by18,000 by what shown” lacks a clear grammatical structure. The opening also omits necessary grammatical words in “surveys that given to visitors.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, including the comma placement in “increased ,whereas.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then build longer sentences with controlled clauses and consistent past-tense forms.
