Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the subject and report several accurate figures: visitors rose from 74,000, and before refurbishment dissatisfaction was 40%, satisfaction 30%, and very high satisfaction 15%. However, the response is incomplete: it stops mid-sentence at “the amount of very s…”, so the after-refurbishment survey results and the overall comparison are not properly reported. The key overview—that visitor numbers increased and satisfaction improved substantially after the work—is also missing. The task requires at least 150 words, and this response is 13 words short. To strengthen the report, complete the after-period comparisons, include the rise to 92,000 visitors, and summarise the main changes rather than listing figures without an overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening introduces the visuals, a second paragraph discusses the year before refurbishment, and a final paragraph begins to address the later period. This gives the reader some sense of sequence. However, the final paragraph is unfinished, leaving the comparison and conclusion absent, and the body paragraph presents figures in a crowded sequence. Linking phrases such as “Now turning the details” and “It is clearly seen” signal movement, but they do not create a clear progression between the main features. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for an overview and the two periods, and connect related comparisons explicitly—for example, contrast the fall in dissatisfaction with the rise in satisfaction.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbished,” “percentage,” “dissatisfied,” and “very dissatisfied,” and you use some variation to describe visitor responses. However, spelling errors are frequent and sometimes make the text difficult to read: “illusturates,” “tourits,” “Mesum,” “impresssed,” and “staisfied” are examples. Several expressions are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “the very less number,” “gived no response,” and “much satisfied.” Prefer standard chart-reporting phrases such as “the smallest proportion gave no response” and “were very satisfied.” Check spelling carefully and use consistent terms for the categories shown in the charts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response includes attempts at longer sentence structures, particularly when describing several survey categories together, and the reader can generally identify the figures being discussed. However, control is inconsistent. For example, “the percentage of vistor who are dissatisfied accounted for 40%” shifts awkwardly between singular and plural, while “the number of very dissatisfied visitors only 10%” lacks a verb. There are also missing spaces after punctuation and sentence boundaries, as in “refurbished. The” and “details,Year.” These errors make relationships between ideas less clear. Practise complete subject–verb sentences, consistent past-tense reporting, and accurate articles and plurals; then proofread punctuation and spacing.
