Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad contrast that visitor numbers rose after refurbishment and that dissatisfaction fell, and you include several relevant survey figures for the year before. However, the response only partially covers the task: it gives no satisfaction figures for the year after, despite this being essential for comparison, and the overview does not summarise the overall shift towards satisfaction. The statement that 15% showed a “good response” is unclear and misrepresents the chart, where 15% were very satisfied. Also, the table shows visitor numbers, not a proportion. The final point about 92,000 visitors is incomplete and lacks a direct comparison with 74,000. The response is 143 words, below the required 150, so it also needs fuller reporting.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: an introduction is followed by an overview and then details about the first survey, with “Overall,” “According to,” and “on the other hand” used to signal stages or contrast. However, progression is limited because most detail concerns only the year before refurbishment, while the after-refurbishment information is reduced to an unfinished final statement. Some linking is inaccurate or awkward: “on the other hand” introduces another category rather than a clear opposing point, and the overview’s comparison is difficult to follow. Paragraphing is present, but the information would be more coherent if the two periods were compared systematically, with satisfaction categories grouped and the visitor totals reported together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “dissatisfied,” “refurbishment,” and “increment,” so the reader can recognise the topic and several key trends. However, the range is limited and word choice, spelling, and collocation errors are noticeable: “rubrishment,” “comapred,” “survery,” and “lagre” make the writing less clear, while “good respose” is not an accurate label for a survey category. Phrases such as “visitors thinking” and “visitors dissatisfied the museum” are also unnatural. Aim to use the chart’s exact category labels and standard reporting expressions, such as “the proportion of visitors who were dissatisfied” and “visitor numbers increased.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, for example, “The 40% of visitors dissatisfied the museum as compared with…” This shows an effort to connect information, but the range remains limited and errors are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “The chart show,” “74000 visitors visit,” and “a lagre increment the number,” where agreement, tense, and sentence structure are not controlled. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “the only 30% visitors” and the run-on sequence beginning “while 15percent individual…”. Practise complete comparative sentences with accurate past-tense reporting, for example: “The proportion who were dissatisfied fell from 40% to 15%.”
