Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall changes accurately: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, and satisfaction improved after refurbishment. You also report the increases in the two positive categories. However, the response ends mid-sentence at “The percentage of dissatisfied res…”, so the important declines in dissatisfaction and the remaining survey category are not reported. The overview’s contrast between positive feedback and “widespread dissatisfaction” is relevant, but the supporting comparison is incomplete. The response also contains 132 words, below the required 150, which limits how fully you can cover the data. Complete the final comparison and include the key figures for dissatisfied and very dissatisfied visitors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, visitor totals, and satisfaction comparisons. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information, and transitions such as “Overall,” “Prior to,” and “Conversely” help signal relationships. The main limitation is that the final paragraph is cut off at “The percentage of dissatisfied res…”, leaving the comparison unfinished and weakening the progression. Some linking is also mechanical, with repeated time references such as “prior to,” “following,” and “after.” To strengthen the organisation, group the positive and negative survey results into complete, balanced comparisons and ensure each paragraph reaches a clear conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonably varied set of task-related terms, including “refurbished,” “satisfaction,” “proportion,” “rose markedly,” and “dropped sharply.” These choices show an effort to describe trends rather than simply list figures. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “musuem,” “respondsexpressing,” “tyhr,” “whilw,” and “dissatifed.” Some expressions are also awkward, such as “visitor number” and “customer satisfaction levels” for museum visitors. Use accurate forms such as “number of visitors” and “visitor satisfaction,” and proofread carefully. The unfinished phrase about dissatisfied visitors also prevents the vocabulary used to describe that trend from being assessed fully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a clear overview sentence and a comparison with a participial phrase: “representing an increase of 18000 visitors.” Most of the intended meaning is understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “the year prior to and year following its” lacks parallel articles and has no completed reference after “its”; “In term of” should be “In terms of”; and “those were satisfied grew” needs a clearer construction, such as “the proportion who were satisfied grew.” The final sentence is incomplete, which also affects punctuation and sentence control. Check agreement, articles, and complete sentence boundaries, while retaining the range of structures you are attempting.
