Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main contrast in satisfaction: dissatisfaction was the largest category before refurbishment, while satisfaction was highest afterwards. You also report several survey percentages accurately. However, the overview is incomplete and partly imprecise: it refers to the “maximum visitors” rather than the largest share of respondents, and it omits the rise in total attendance from 74,000 to 92,000. The account also leaves out the 10% who were very dissatisfied before refurbishment and the 5% afterwards, so the key changes are not fully summarised. The task is addressed only partially because the response mainly lists figures rather than selecting and comparing the most important features. Include attendance and describe the overall shift from negative to positive satisfaction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introductory statement, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two survey periods. This helps the reader follow the before-and-after information. However, progression is limited: the body paragraphs list categories one by one, with little direct comparison between the periods, and the repeated openings “A glance at the chart” and “further analysis of the chart” feel mechanical. Some linking within the lists is also awkward, particularly the repeated use of “and.” Organise the details around changes—for example, group the two positive categories together, then compare dissatisfaction—and use clearer references such as “the corresponding figure” to connect the periods.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbished,” “survey,” “percentage,” “dissatisfied,” and “very satisfied,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise. “Maximum visitors” does not accurately describe the largest percentage category, while “the total number of visitors” is repeated even when discussing survey proportions. The phrase “how they satisfied they with the visit” is also an unclear word-choice and word-form attempt. Use precise terms such as “respondents,” “share,” and “satisfaction ratings,” and vary reporting verbs rather than repeatedly referring to “the chart.” These improvements would make the comparisons more natural and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences, including the opening sentence and the overview, but most structures follow a similar pattern and errors occur frequently. For example, “how they satisfied they with the visit” has faulty clause structure, and “visitors who visited year before refurbishment” is missing an article and a preposition. In “did not gave response,” the verb after “did not” should be in its base form, and the sentence also needs an article before “response.” There are further article and plural issues in phrases such as “the 40%” and “total number of visitor.” Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them with clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
