Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main topic and include the visitor totals, noting the rise from 74,000 before refurbishment, although the after-refurbishment total of 92,000 is omitted. You also report the key fall in dissatisfaction from 40% to 15% and the rise in very satisfied responses to 35%, so some relevant comparisons are present. However, several figures are misreported: before refurbishment, satisfied visitors were 30%, not 5%, and very dissatisfied visitors were 10%, not 30%. The overview is unclear and does not accurately summarise the overall shift toward satisfaction. To address the task more fully, give a concise overview of both the increase in attendance and the improvement in satisfaction, then select accurate figures to support it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has separate paragraphs and attempts to move from an introduction and overview to before-and-after details. Time markers such as “During the year before refurbishment” and “After next” also signal comparison. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview contains unclear statements, including “Pie chart use liquma scale,” and the sequence of categories does not help explain the main trends. Some links are repetitive or imprecise, such as “There is also” and “They create a clear difference.” The final paragraph ends without a complete summary of the after-refurbishment figures. Organise the response around a clear overview followed by a direct comparison of the two periods, using accurate references and simpler transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “visitors,” “refurbishment,” “dissatisfied,” “percentage,” and “no response,” which helps convey the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear: “liquma scale,” “got positive experience,” and “create a clear difference” are not natural descriptions of survey results. “Pie chart” is also inaccurate because the task presents survey charts alongside a table. Repetition of “difference” and “visitors” further limits precision. Build a small set of accurate reporting expressions, such as “the proportion of respondents,” “rose to,” “fell from … to …,” and “the largest group,” and check spelling and word forms before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, and the reader can generally identify the periods being compared. However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “The pie chart illustrate,” “the number of visitors are increase,” and “74,000 visitors are came,” where subject–verb agreement and verb forms are faulty. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction in “during the year before and year it get refurnished” and “their are the large number.” Most sentences rely on basic patterns, and attempts to combine ideas are not consistently controlled. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and agreement, for example, “The number of visitors increased” and “There were 40% dissatisfied visitors.”
