Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report several important figures accurately, including the rise in visitors’ very satisfied ratings from 15% to 35%, the fall in dissatisfied ratings from 40% to 15%, and the unchanged 5% with no response. However, the total visitor figures are not compared: the number rose from 74,000 to 92,000. Some satisfaction categories are also misreported. Before refurbishment, 30% were satisfied, not dissatisfied, and 10% were very dissatisfied, not “only just satisfied”; after refurbishment, 40% were satisfied, rather than 35%. Your concluding claims about visitors liking the atmosphere and clean halls are not supported by the charts. A clearer overview and more accurate reporting of all key comparisons would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence: it first describes the period before refurbishment, then the period after, and ends with a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the progression is weakened by unclear or repetitive links, such as “Before if was just 30 percent and after renovation it is 35 percent,” followed by another comparison of the same satisfaction categories. Several ideas run together without clear sentence boundaries, and the final paragraph introduces unsupported details rather than summarising the main trends. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for an overview and the key comparisons, and connect related figures with clear references such as “by contrast” or “while.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing survey results, including “increased,” “decreases,” “visitors,” and “no response,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “quantity of visitors” is less natural than “number of visitors,” and “visitors are most satisfied” does not clearly describe the survey proportions. “The large number of increases” is also awkward. Spelling errors such as “increasd,” “decreses,” and “atomosphere” further reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent and errors frequently affect clarity. For instance, “The table showed the number of visitors how they satisfied” has an incomplete and confusing structure, while “Before if was just 30 percent” contains an incorrect pronoun and verb form. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “The large number of increases in very satisfied visitors,A huge difference.” Many sentences are joined or punctuated awkwardly, and the opening has no space after the full stop. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense forms consistently when comparing the two periods.
