Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify the broad direction of two important changes: visitor numbers rose after refurbishment, and dissatisfaction fell. However, the response does not adequately summarise the table and charts: it gives no figures, omits the rise in satisfied and very satisfied responses, and does not report the unchanged no-response share. The opening also misidentifies the table as survey results, while the charts show satisfaction and the table gives visitor totals. The overview is brief and the comparisons are not supported with data. The response is also substantially below the required 150 words, which leaves the task only minimally addressed. To improve, distinguish the table from the charts and select key figures to support an overview of the main changes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the visuals and then gives an overall comment, using “Overall” and “Also” to connect ideas. This provides a little organisation, but the four sentences are compressed into one paragraph and do not develop a clear progression from an overview to specific comparisons. Some links are unclear: “the change in visitor's satisfaction highlighted a noticeable change in the number of visitors” does not explain how the two changes relate. The missing space after “periods.” also disrupts presentation. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and key details, and connect each comparison explicitly to the relevant period and figures.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfaction,” “dissatisfaction,” and “increased significantly,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is narrow and several phrases are imprecise or awkward for describing these visuals. “The result of survey” does not clearly identify the survey results, and “the amount of visitors” is not the natural expression for people counted in a table. “The change in visitor's satisfaction” is also unclear when referring to overall survey responses. Aim for precise chart language such as “proportion of respondents,” “visitor numbers,” and “fell from … to …”; this would make comparisons clearer and more appropriately formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to combine ideas, as in “Overall, the change … highlighted a noticeable change …”. Meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven. In “The table compares the result of survey asking…,” the article and noun phrase are incomplete; “the two periods. The” also lacks a space after the full stop. The sentence about satisfaction and visitor numbers has an unclear grammatical relationship between its clauses, and “visitor's” does not agree with the intended plural meaning. Use complete, clearly structured sentences, check articles and plural forms, and proofread punctuation. Adding accurate comparative structures would also demonstrate a wider range.
