Student answer (Band 5.0)
In these charts and stats, the difference between the number of visitors year before the refurbishment and after the refurbishment of Ashdown Museum. The chart tells the reader that the number of visitor are increased after the refurbishment by 24 percent but the most important factor that should be noted is about the number of very satisfied visitor. Before the renewal of Museum, there were only 15% out of 74000 visitors who were really satisfied but now the ratio of very satisfied visitors has reached arround 35 which is really enormous amount. The circular chart tells that number of dissatisfied costumers is decreased which is a good point. These stats clearly shows that renewal of Museum or any place can bring a good expression because of the new vibe in it and it helps to attract visitors by the new beauty of that place. Refurbishment can increase number of satisfied visitors and decrease dissatisfied visitors.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad pattern that visitor numbers and satisfaction improved after refurbishment, and the figures of 74,000, 15% very satisfied before, and 35% after are accurate. However, the response only partially reports the visual information: it omits the total of 92,000 and gives no figures for the satisfied, dissatisfied, very dissatisfied, or no-response groups. The claim that visitors increased “by 24 percent” is inaccurate; the increase was 18,000, or about 24% of the original total. The final comments about refurbishment creating a “new vibe” and attracting visitors are speculation rather than chart reporting. Include a concise overview and compare the main satisfaction categories to make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable sequence: it introduces the charts, mentions visitor numbers, then discusses satisfaction and ends with a general conclusion. However, the ideas are packed into one paragraph, and the progression between the table and survey results is not always clear. Phrases such as “the most important factor that should be noted” and “The circular chart tells” do not create precise links between the data points. The repeated conclusion that refurbishment increases satisfaction also adds little new information. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph comparing the figures, using clear references such as “before refurbishment” and “after refurbishment” consistently.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “dissatisfied,” “ratio,” and “increased,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal for an academic data summary. “Stats” and “new vibe” are conversational, while “costumers” is the wrong word for museum visitors. “Really enormous amount” is an awkward description of a percentage, and “expression” does not clearly convey the effect you intend. Spelling errors such as “arround” also reduce accuracy. Use precise terms for proportions and changes, and describe the survey categories directly rather than adding subjective language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “but” and a clause beginning “because,” but control is inconsistent. The opening sentence is a fragment: “the difference between the number of visitors…” has no main verb. There are also agreement and article errors in “the number of visitor are increased” and “renewal of Museum,” as well as an unclear construction in “15% out of 74000 visitors who were really satisfied.” The final sentence, “Refurbishment can increase number…,” also needs an article. These errors sometimes make relationships between the figures difficult to follow. Practise complete, direct comparison sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and plural forms.
