Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad direction of change: visitor numbers rose after refurbishment, satisfaction improved, and the no-response share stayed the same. However, the report only partially presents the chart’s key information. It gives no actual figures for visitor totals or satisfaction categories, and “increased double” is inaccurate: visitors rose from 74,000 to 92,000, while the combined satisfied/very satisfied share rose from 45% to 75%, not doubled. The claim that very dissatisfied visitors were “more than half” is also incorrect; this group fell from 10% to 5%. A clearer overview and accurate comparisons of the main categories would make the response more complete and better supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has a basic overall sequence, moving from a general statement to comments about the periods before and after refurbishment. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear, purposeful paragraphs, and the progression is difficult to follow. Several points are repeated, such as the increase in visitors and happiness, while the discussion shifts between visitor totals and satisfaction without a clear comparison structure. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “After rebuilt,” and “As a result” are attempted, but some do not show a logical relationship between the information that follows. Organise the response into an introduction, a concise overview, and paragraphs comparing the figures before and after; use references and connectors to make each comparison explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt relevant vocabulary, including “satisfaction,” “dissatisfaction,” “refurbished,” and “reconstruction,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “the amount of people visit” and “the amount of visitors is huge increased” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “pleased people” is also imprecise for survey categories. Spelling errors such as “dissatifaction,” “comapre,” and “dissatified” further reduce accuracy. Build a small set of precise chart-reporting phrases, such as “the proportion of visitors who were satisfied,” “visitor numbers rose,” and “the share reporting dissatisfaction fell,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentence forms, including a contrast with “however” and a relative clause beginning “who did not response,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For instance, “people visit to Ashdown Museum” needs a correctly formed clause, while “the number of pleased people is increased” uses an incorrect verb pattern and tense. In “the amount of visitors is huge increased,” the adverb and verb form are also faulty. Capitalisation after commas is inconsistent, and some sentences join ideas without clear punctuation. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them with controlled clauses—for example, “Visitor numbers rose, while dissatisfaction fell.”
