Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart illustrates the proportion of visitors making an exploration to Ashdown Museum before and after its renovation. Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the number of individuals visiting a museum seen a substantial increase after the refurbished stage when compared to the total number of visits before the renovation.

Considering, an overview of a result showcasing the satisfaction levels of the numerous visitors prior to redecoration of the museum and later of it, it is noticeable that out of 100% there were apparently 45% people felt satisfied with the preceding structure of the museum however, this satisfaction level reached to zenith as 75% explorers were deeply happy and pleased after the refurbishment was undertaken.

However, in contrast to the satisfied visitors, there were higher number of people who were largely dissatisfied with the beforehand structure of the museum accounting to the 50% which drastically lowered to only 20% once the museum was renovated. Apart from this, in both the cases there were almost 5% individuals who were unresponsive to the survey.

Overall, majority of the people were pleased with the refurbishment of the museum than the previous outlook of the museum.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall changes: visitor numbers rose after refurbishment, satisfaction improved, and dissatisfaction fell. The figures you give for satisfaction are broadly accurate: satisfied or very satisfied totals 45% before and 75% after, while dissatisfied or very dissatisfied falls from 50% to 20%; no response remains at 5%. However, the opening calls the visual a “pie chart” and describes visitors “making an exploration,” although the task includes a visitor table and satisfaction charts. You also omit the actual visitor totals of 74,000 and 92,000, and do not report the individual satisfaction categories, so some key information is less fully covered. Include the totals and compare the category-level changes to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable progression from an introduction and overview to details about satisfaction and dissatisfaction, followed by a concluding statement. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement. However, the paragraph beginning “Considering, an overview” is awkwardly introduced and repeats the overview rather than moving directly into a clear comparison. Linking words such as “However,” and “Apart from this” are used, but the contrast introduced by “However” is not always clearly connected to the preceding point. The final “Overall” also repeats the main message. For stronger progression, group the visitor totals and satisfaction figures into purposeful detail paragraphs, and use concise references such as “before refurbishment” and “afterwards” consistently.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a range of vocabulary, including “substantial increase,” “dissatisfied,” and “refurbishment,” and the intended meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several are unnatural or imprecise for describing charts. “Making an exploration” does not naturally mean visiting a museum, while “the satisfaction level reached to zenith” is an awkward way to describe an increase. “Unresponsive to the survey” is also less precise than saying that visitors gave no response. Repeated references to “structure” and “outlook” do not accurately describe satisfaction with a museum visit. Prefer direct, conventional reporting language and use the chart’s categories, such as “very satisfied” and “very dissatisfied,” to improve precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including longer sentences with contrast clauses, and the main comparisons can usually be understood. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “the number of individuals visiting a museum seen a substantial increase” needs a finite verb (“saw”), and “there were higher number” needs an article (“a higher number”). The phrase “Considering, an overview” is not a complete or well-formed opening, and “reached to zenith” has an incorrect grammatical pattern. Punctuation also makes some long sentences difficult to follow, especially around “however.” Use shorter, controlled comparisons and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause boundaries.
