Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie charts delineate the outcome of surveys asking tourist how satisfied they were with their vist to the Ashdown museum before the refurbishment year and after that. Likewise, the table demonstrates the total number of vistitors of the same museum during the same two periods.

Overall, it is quite clear that the number of visitors has been comparetively increased after the refurbishment year. In contrast, the number of highly satisfied individuals significantly rose after the reurbishment, similarly, the proportion of dissatisfaction has dramatically reduced, while the percentage of very dissatisfaction people have been climbed after the year of refurbishment.

Before the refurbishment year, there were very high ratio of dissatified individuals of about 40%, followed by the second most very dissatisfied people of around 30%. Moreover, the number of people who are very satisfied from the visit the Ashdown museum has nearly 15%. Additionally, the proportion of highly dissatisfied individuals have only 10%, whereas just 5% of people have no response about the museum. Furthermore, the total number of toursit to the Ashdown museum during this year before the refurbishmet were approximately 74,000.

After the refurbishment year, the number of people who were dissatisfied from the museum dropped significantly to just 15%. Likewise, the percentage of individuals who were satisfied increased moderately to 40%. Similarly, the proportion of those who were very satisfied substantially rose up to 35%. Coversely, there were only 5% of people who are largely dissatisfied as well as the same figure for no response of people. Untimatly, the total number of individuals who visit the Ashdown museum were slightly increased of around 92,000.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both the visitor total and the satisfaction surveys, and the main figures are generally reported accurately: visitors rose from 74,000 to 92,000, while dissatisfaction fell from 40% to 15% and satisfaction increased. The overview identifies these broad changes, but it contains a significant contradiction: it says the proportion of “very dissatisfaction” climbed, although very dissatisfied responses fell from 10% to 5%. Some category descriptions are also confused in the detail—for example, the pre-refurbishment 30% group is called “very dissatisfied” rather than “satisfied.” To strengthen the response, distinguish the four satisfaction categories consistently and make the overview accurately capture the overall shift toward positive ratings.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two periods. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “After the refurbishment year” help signal relationships. However, several transitions are repetitive or awkward, including repeated use of “Similarly” and “Moreover,” while “Conversely” does not clearly express the relationship in its sentence. The overview also conflicts with the later figures, disrupting the progression of ideas. Grouping the satisfaction categories by positive and negative responses, and using clearer comparisons between the two years, would make the organisation more logical and cohesion less mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “significantly,” “dropped,” and “substantially rose,” which helps describe changes. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the categories unclear: “highly satisfied” is used where the intended category appears to be “satisfied,” and “very dissatisfaction people” is not a natural expression. There are also spelling errors such as “vist,” “comparetively,” “reurbishment,” and “Untimatly.” Some phrases, including “number of toursit” and “rose up,” are imprecise or unnatural. Use the chart’s category labels consistently and favour standard reporting phrases such as “the proportion of visitors who were dissatisfied fell.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while” and “whereas,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “the number of visitors has been comparetively increased” uses an incorrect passive construction, while “there were very high ratio” lacks agreement and an article. In “the proportion … have only 10%,” the subject requires a singular verb, and “the total number … were approximately 74,000” also has a number-agreement problem. Some sentences combine several ideas in ways that make relationships less clear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and check subject–verb agreement and article use in each sentence.
