Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two periods and report some relevant survey patterns, including that dissatisfaction was high before refurbishment and that 15% were dissatisfied afterwards. However, several figures are misreported: before refurbishment, only 5% gave no response, not “just over a quarter”; after refurbishment, 5% were very dissatisfied and 5% gave no response, rather than “just over a quarter” for both. The visitor total of 92,000 after refurbishment is not stated, and the overview is cut off at “significant number of peoplw atre satisfi,” so the main changes are not clearly summarised. The response is also below the 150-word minimum: 129 words, with nine copied prompt words excluded. Develop a complete overview and check each figure against the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is an attempt to organise the response by time period: the paragraph beginning “Year before refurbishment” is followed by “Subsequently” for the later period. This gives the reader a basic framework, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Meanwhile” show an effort to connect details. However, the progression is weakened by an incomplete opening comparison (“while a significant difference after refurbishment”) and a final sentence that stops mid-thought. Several transitions, including “Initially,” “In Addition,” and “Respectively,” do not clearly express the relationship between the figures, while the repeated listing of details makes the report feel mechanical. Use a clear introduction, a concise overview, and two logically grouped detail paragraphs, with accurate links between comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “visitors,” “dissatisfied,” and “satisfied,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear: “significant numbers of visitors” does not describe the chart’s comparison, “the same both period” is awkward, and “nearly half people” lacks a natural quantifier. Spelling errors such as “durning,” “survery,” “befrore,” “quator,” and “peoplw” are noticeable and sometimes make reading harder. Aim for precise chart language such as “the proportion of visitors,” “accounted for,” and “rose from … to …”; check spelling and use natural phrases like “nearly half of respondents.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “Moreover, one third people were satisfied,” but the range is limited and errors occur frequently. Some clauses are incomplete: “Furthermore, shows the result…” has no clear subject, and “while a significant difference after refurbishment” lacks a complete clause. There are also problems with articles and sentence structure in “nearly half people” and “one third people,” and the final sentence is unfinished. Tense and agreement are not consistently controlled, as seen in the shift from “there are 74,000 people” to descriptions of the survey in the past. Build complete sentences with an explicit subject and verb, and keep past-tense reporting consistent, for example, “Visitor numbers rose to 92,000 after refurbishment.”
