Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given table compares the number of tourists to Ashdown Museum during the year before and after its renovation. The provided pie charts show the outcome of surveys from the visitors asking them about the feedback of their visit, in the both mentioned years.
The year after the remodeling of the museum shows a positive response in case of increased numbers of visitors, also the pie charts show illustrate that the satisfaction level of visitors makes upto 45 percent before the refurbishment which spikes upto 75 percent in the year after. The people with no response remains the same and negative feedback was dropped from 50 percent to only 20 percent altogether.
First, the visitors log shows that there were 74 thousand people who visit the museum during the year before its furnishing, which increased in numbers upto 92 thousand people during the year after the remodeling. The level of very satisfied tourists was increaed from 15 to 35 in the pie chart, whereas satisfied visitors were at 30 percent before the renovation and it also adds up to 40 percent after the year of refurbishment.
Secondly the surveys show that dissatisfied visitors were 40% before and goes down to more than half in numbers at 15% during the year after furnishing. Very dissatisfied tourists also decreased in half from 10% to 5% during the year before and after renovation. At last, visitors giving no response to survey were 5 percent during the same two periods.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both the visitor totals and the survey results, and your overview identifies the main changes: attendance rose from 74,000 to 92,000, positive satisfaction increased from 45% to 75%, and negative responses fell from 50% to 20%. The figures you report are generally accurate, including the unchanged 5% with no response. This meets the task well and shows some of the clear selection and overview expected at a stronger level. However, some details are less fully developed: the survey categories are not consistently distinguished in the overview, and phrases such as “satisfaction level … makes upto 45 percent” could state more precisely that this combines the satisfied and very satisfied groups. A sharper, more explicit comparison of the two positive categories would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a summary of the main trends, and two paragraphs giving details. This helps the reader follow the comparison, and “First” and “Secondly” signal the move between visitor numbers and survey results. However, progression is not consistently smooth. The second paragraph repeats information that is then described again in the following paragraphs, while “At last” introduces the final category awkwardly. Some links are mechanical, and references such as “the same two periods” could be clearer if the years were named directly. Grouping the positive categories together and then the negative categories, with fewer repeated statements, would create a more coherent progression and make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfaction,” “dissatisfied,” and “increased,” so the topic is generally clear. There are also attempts to vary wording, such as “renovation” and “remodeling.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for a formal chart report: “tourists” is less suitable than “visitors,” “visitors log” is not the right term for the table, and “furnishing” does not mean refurbishment. Phrases such as “feedback of their visit” and “adds up to 40 percent” are also imprecise in context. Spelling errors such as “increaed” and “upto” further reduce control. Prefer precise, consistent terms and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses linked with “whereas” and “which,” and the main comparisons can usually be understood. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “there were 74 thousand people who visit” should use a past-tense verb, and “dissatisfied visitors were 40% before and goes down” shifts incorrectly between plural agreement and tense. The opening sentence also has an unclear construction in “in the both mentioned years.” Some long sentences combine several ideas without clear grammatical control. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and subject–verb agreement, and divide complex comparisons into shorter, well-formed sentences.
