Student answer (Band 5.0)

The pie chart elaborates the number of people that really enjoyed visiting the museum. overall there is a great difference between the people before vistit the museum and after visit the museum during the year before refurbishment the number of people were 74,000and the year after refurbishment the number of people were 92,000. The number of people were minimum before than that of after. The pie chart shows that the year before the refurbishment people which were very satisfied are just 15 percent but the people of the year after refurbishment which were very satisfied are increased which are 35 percent. As well as, the individuals who were just satisfied in the before are 30 percent but in after this percentage is also enhanced which is about 40 percent. moreover, the survey shows the big difference between the before and after dissatisfied people in before the number of people which were dissatisfied are 40 percent but after the percentage is decreased to a great extent. Furthermore, the other factors are also show like dissatisfied people in before are 10 percent but in after this percentage is also low. Now there is a similarity between before and after which is that the people who did not gave the response are 5 percent and after the survey these remain unchanged.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover the main elements of the task: visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000, satisfaction increased in the two positive categories, and the no-response figure stayed at 5%. These are relevant comparisons and show a general understanding of the data. However, the overview is not clearly separated from the details, and some key information is incomplete or inaccurate. In particular, you do not give the after-refurbishment figure for dissatisfied visitors (15%), and you describe the 10% who were very dissatisfied before refurbishment as “dissatisfied.” A concise overview highlighting the rise in visitors and the shift from mostly dissatisfied to mostly satisfied responses would make the main features clearer and more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response follows a broadly sensible order, moving from visitor totals to satisfaction categories, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “Now” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, it is presented as one long paragraph, so the overview and supporting comparisons are difficult to distinguish. Several transitions are mechanical or do not express the relationship clearly, such as “As well as” and “moreover,” while repeated references to “before” and “after” make the progression feel circular. Group the information into a brief introduction and overview, followed by a paragraph comparing satisfaction results. Use clear references such as “the proportion of satisfied visitors” to avoid repeatedly restating the time periods.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfied,” “dissatisfied,” “percentage,” and “unchanged,” which allows the reader to identify the categories being compared. However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or unnatural. “The pie chart elaborates the number of people that really enjoyed” does not accurately describe the charts, and “the number of people were minimum” is an awkward way to compare totals. “Enhanced” is also not a natural choice for a percentage that increased. Aim for precise chart language and vary repeated wording with terms such as “proportion,” “share,” and “visitor total.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and comparisons, for example, “the people of the year after refurbishment which were very satisfied are increased,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur in phrases such as “the number of people were” and “are increased.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also weak: the opening runs into the next idea, and “overall” begins a sentence without appropriate capitalisation. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “The proportion who were very satisfied rose from 15% to 35%.” Use full stops to separate the overview from individual comparisons.
