Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main comparison that visitor numbers rose after refurbishment and note the shift from dissatisfaction before the work to greater satisfaction afterwards. You also include several relevant percentages. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: saying “the majority visitors” came after refurbishment is not supported, since the figures are totals rather than proportions of visitors. The after-refurbishment survey had 40% satisfied and 35% very satisfied, while dissatisfaction fell to 15%; these key changes need to be stated precisely. The visitor total before refurbishment is misreported as 7,400 instead of 74,000. The response is also three words below the 150-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt do not count toward the requirement. Develop the comparisons more fully and check figures carefully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Furthermore” signal relationships between points. However, progression is limited because the overview repeats ideas that are then only briefly revisited, and the final paragraph ends without a complete comparison of the survey results. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “on the other hand” and “while” in the last paragraph, where the contrast between the two years could be expressed more directly. Punctuation and spacing also interrupt the flow. Group the visitor totals together, then compare satisfaction categories in a clear sequence, using references such as “before refurbishment” and “afterwards” consistently.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “refurbished,” “surveys,” “dissatisfied,” and “satisfied,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make the report less clear: “individual who went” is unnatural for visitor numbers, “out come” should be “outcome,” and “minuim visitors” does not express the intended idea. Repeated use of “number of tourist” also lacks precision; “visitor total” or “number of visitors” would be more suitable. Spelling errors such as “befor,” “refubishment,” and “respone” are noticeable. Build a small set of accurate chart-reporting phrases and proofread spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt a few longer structures, for example “Overall, it is evident that…” and “Furthermore, years before refurbishment…,” but most sentences rely on basic patterns, and errors are frequent enough to affect clarity. Examples include missing articles and plural forms in “the majority visitors” and “number of tourist,” as well as faulty agreement in “the number … were 92000.” The sentence beginning “on the other hand” has unclear structure and punctuation, while “while, ayear after…” is not correctly joined to the preceding clause. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “whereas” or “while”; check articles, subject–verb agreement, plurals, and sentence boundaries.
