Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main comparison that visitor numbers rose after refurbishment, and you report several satisfaction figures, including the unchanged 5% giving no response. However, key data are misreported: before refurbishment, 74,000 visitors came, not “seventy thousands”; after refurbishment, 92,000 is correct. In the post-refurbishment survey, 40% were satisfied and 35% were very satisfied, but you label both groups as satisfied. You also omit the pre-refurbishment 10% who were very dissatisfied and misstate the post-refurbishment 5% as non-responsive. The overview is limited, and the response is 143 words, below the 150-word minimum. Select the main trends accurately and check each category against the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence: visitor totals are introduced first, followed by survey results and then comparisons. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “After the refurbishment” and “There is a common ratio” attempt to connect information. However, the second paragraph repeats “Pie graph represents” and the final paragraph lists changes without a clear overall summary. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “the trend change at all,” which does not explain the comparison. Use a concise overview, then group the satisfaction figures by period and compare the main changes. Clearer paragraph purposes and more precise referencing would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “dissatisfied,” “satisfied,” “ratio,” and “increase,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the data difficult to interpret. “Non responsive” is not an appropriate description of survey respondents who gave no response, while “the trend change at all” is unclear. “Pie graph” is repeated, and “ratio” is used where “percentage” is intended. Spelling errors such as “ninty” and “Morever” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of chart-reporting terms and use them consistently to distinguish satisfaction categories and changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, and the reader can understand the broad subject of the response. However, sentence structures are mostly basic, and errors occur frequently in number, tense, articles, and sentence boundaries. For example, “The total seventy thousands visitors visited” has faulty number and noun construction, while “the number of visitors increase” does not maintain correct subject–verb agreement or tense. The sentence beginning “After the refurbishment, the trend change at all, Pie graph represents…” joins clauses incorrectly and uses inconsistent tense. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons with controlled clauses, such as “Visitor numbers rose from 74,000 to 92,000.” Check punctuation and agreement when editing.
