Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main overall changes: visitor numbers rose after refurbishment, and satisfaction improved as dissatisfaction fell. You also report several accurate figures, including the increase in very satisfied visitors from 15% to 35%, the unchanged 5% with no response, and the fall in dissatisfaction from 40% to 15%. However, the account is only partly complete: it omits the total visitor figures of 74,000 and 92,000, and it does not clearly distinguish the two dissatisfied categories. In particular, the statement that “individuals with dissatisfied feeling” fell from 10% to 5% actually describes the very dissatisfied group. Include the visitor totals and report the categories consistently to make the key comparisons clearer and more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs presenting survey details. This helps the reader identify the broad message. However, progression within the detail is uneven: the final paragraph repeats the fall in dissatisfaction already mentioned, while the visitor totals are not incorporated into the account. Some linking words, such as “Although,” “While,” and “Whereas,” are used in ways that leave sentence relationships unclear or create fragments. The reference to “last year” and “next year” also makes the comparison less precise than naming the year before and after refurbishment. Organise the figures by period or satisfaction category, and use connectors only where the relationship between ideas is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary suited to describing trends, including “significant,” “increased,” “decline,” and “stood constant.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the report difficult to read, for example “satisfation,” “meusem,” “climed,” and “visiters.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “high satisfied people” and “converted into satisfied,” which can obscure the intended comparison. Use standard chart-reporting expressions and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the proportion of visitors who were very satisfied as having risen, rather than referring to “high satisfied people.” More accurate collocations would make the data easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “Although” and “Whereas,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in verb forms and sentence construction, as in “numbers of visitors had visited” and “there was a significant climed was in noticed.” The sentence beginning “Although people with no response…” is not joined to a main clause, and “While, individuals…” is also an incomplete construction. There are further problems with articles, agreement and punctuation, including missing spaces after full stops. These errors sometimes make the intended meaning hard to follow. Practise building complete sentences around each comparison, and check that every subordinate clause is attached to a main clause.
