Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the overall rise in attendance, from 74,000 to 92,000, and note that satisfaction improved while non-response stayed unchanged. However, the survey figures are substantially misreported: 15% refers to visitors who were very satisfied before refurbishment, not the total satisfied, and the after-refurbishment figure of 35% is also for the very satisfied group. More importantly, dissatisfaction fell from 40% to 15%, whereas your response reverses these figures, saying it rose from 15% to 40%. The overview is relevant, but the account omits the separate satisfied category and does not accurately compare the main survey results. Reporting the categories and their changes precisely would make the response more complete and reliable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs covering attendance and survey results. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “To begin with,” and “Furthermore” help signal the progression, and the reader can follow the broad comparison. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement. To make the progression more consistently clear, organise the survey paragraph around the categories and compare before and after values in a consistent order. Some links are mechanical, and the sentence about visitors who “had influened and had positive feedback” is unclear, interrupting the flow. Clearer referencing and more precise transitions between the satisfaction categories would strengthen cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “proportion,” “dissatisfied,” and “remained same,” and you attempt to describe change with phrases such as “rising trend” and “decreased sharply.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “ratio of satisfied visitors,” “had influened,” and “positive impact on number of visitors.” Spelling errors such as “dramaticaly” and “influened” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not make the response impossible to understand, but they sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling and natural word combinations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “In contrast” and a relative clause in “visitors who did not respond.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but grammatical errors recur. For example, “number of visitors were” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the ratio … were” also mismatches subject and verb. Articles and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, as in “before museum refurbishment” and “visitors. In contrast.” The construction “which rise to almost double” also needs a correctly formed past-tense verb and a clearer comparison. Practise accurate agreement, articles, and punctuation, while keeping complex sentences controlled.
