Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover the main features of both the visitor total and the satisfaction surveys, and your overview identifies the key contrast: visitor numbers rose, while responses shifted from mostly dissatisfied to mostly satisfied. The figures you report are accurate, including the increase from 74,000 to 92,000 and the main satisfaction percentages. This gives the response a clear, relevant account of the data. To make the report more fully developed, state the combined positive and negative patterns more precisely: after refurbishment, 75% were satisfied or very satisfied, compared with 45% before; dissatisfaction fell from 50% to 20%. Also, the overview’s phrase “satisfied to very satisfied” is unclear, and the after-refurbishment account could explicitly mention the 40% satisfied group as the largest category.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the visitor totals and survey results. The contrast between the two periods is also signalled with “however” and “On the other hand,” helping readers follow the main comparison. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “from the pie chart we can see” joins the table and survey overview awkwardly, and “the opposite pattern for after the refurbishment” does not clearly identify the comparison. The final paragraph combines several figures in a long sentence, making the relationships harder to track. Use clearer topic sentences and divide the survey comparisons into shorter, logically connected statements.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some suitable reporting language, including “rose significantly,” “substantial increase,” “largest share,” and “remained stable.” These choices help describe trends and proportions. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions are noticeable, such as “Ashdwon,” “thier,” “persentage,” “gived 0 answer,” and “the number of visitors of didnt gave an answer.” Some repetition of “number of visitors” also makes the description less precise, particularly when discussing survey response categories. Choose accurate terms such as “respondents” or “visitors,” and use standard collocations for survey results. Careful proofreading of spelling and word forms would make your vocabulary more reliable and easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “however” and “where,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless affect clarity. For example, “Year before the Ashdown museum was refurbished” lacks an article and a complete introductory structure; “the number of very satisfied and satisfied people experienced a notable increase where it recorded 35%” has an unclear subject and clause connection; and “the number of visitors … rose … from 74000 visitor … to 92000 visitor” has number-agreement errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, especially where long sentences join several comparisons. Practise accurate articles, plural agreement, and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
