Student answer (Band 5.5)
The chart below illustrates the data of tourists to Ashdown Museum during the year before and after it was refurbished. The graphs illustrates the outcome of surveys asking tourist how fulfilled they were with their tour, during the equivalent both periods.
In this paragraph the table below shows that during the year before and after refurbishment of Ashdown Museum how the vistiors are satisfied. During the year before refurbishment of Ashdown Museum the amount of tourists was 74000, there was a difference of about 18000 peoples after the renovation of Ashdown Museum
The graph below illustrates the outcomes of tourist satisfaction. The difference between the induviduals who were satisfied in the year before renovation were 15% and after the renovation it was about 35%. There was a big difference between them. This shows that people were satisfied after the renovation of Ashdown Museum.
Another outcomes that comes after the renovation was the frustration of induviduals which was 40% in the year before the renovation of Asdown Museum and 15% after the refurbishment off Ashdown Museum. There is also a lot of difference but this shows that peoples are also dissatisfied even after the renovation but not that too much.
Finally the last outcome is the induviduals who didnt reply and do not give any feedback of the refurbishment of Ashdown Museum was equivalent and remains same after and before.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You include the visitor totals and identify several relevant survey changes: visitors rose from 74,000 to 92,000, dissatisfaction fell from 40% to 15%, and non-response stayed at 5%. However, the response does not give a clear overall summary of the main pattern, and some figures are mislabelled. The 15% and 35% figures are for “very satisfied,” not all satisfied visitors; the “satisfied” category rose from 30% to 40% but is omitted. You also do not report the change in “very dissatisfied” responses. The final claim that people remained dissatisfied is only partly supported and would be clearer with accurate category comparisons. Select the main trends and distinguish each satisfaction category precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some paragraphing and follows a broadly understandable order, moving from visitor numbers to satisfaction results and then non-response. However, progression is limited: the opening repeats the task, and phrases such as “In this paragraph” and “The graph below illustrates” do not help organise the information. The discussion is divided into separate observations rather than grouped into a clear overview and logically related comparisons. Some references are also unclear, particularly “the difference between the individuals who were satisfied,” which does not specify the category being compared. Use a concise introduction, an overview of the main trends, and body paragraphs that group related figures. Linking expressions should clarify comparisons rather than simply announce another point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “refurbishment,” “satisfied,” “dissatisfied,” and “outcomes,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or repetitive. “Tourists” and “tour” are not the most suitable terms for museum visitors and their visit, while “fulfilled” and “frustration” do not accurately describe survey satisfaction categories. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “vistiors,” “induviduals,” and “Asdown,” and awkward phrases such as “a lot of difference.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less precise. Prefer the chart’s exact labels and use standard reporting language such as “the proportion of visitors” and “increased/decreased.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, especially when combining several ideas. For example, “during the year before and after refurbishment of Ashdown Museum how the visitors are satisfied” is not a complete, well-formed sentence, and “Another outcomes that comes” has problems with agreement and verb form. Tense and sentence construction also shift in “This shows that people were satisfied after the renovation,” while several sentences run together or lack appropriate punctuation. These errors can make comparisons difficult to follow. Build accurate short sentences first, then add controlled complex forms using clauses such as “while” or “whereas.” Check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
