Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the overall visitor total correctly, reporting 74,000 before and 92,000 after refurbishment, and you mention the satisfaction categories. However, the response reports very little of the survey data: it gives only the 40% dissatisfied figure before refurbishment and does not compare the two periods’ satisfaction results. The key overall change—that satisfaction improved, with satisfied or very satisfied responses rising from 45% to 75% and dissatisfaction falling from 50% to 20%—is missing. Some statements are also inaccurate or unclear, such as saying visitor numbers “were decrease” previously. To address the task more fully, select the main contrasts and support them with accurate figures from both charts, rather than describing the chart structure.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has identifiable sections labelled “INTRODUCTION,” “OVERVIEW,” and “PARAGRAPH,” so the reader can see an attempt to organise the report. It also uses basic linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “Furthermore.” However, ideas do not progress clearly: the overview repeats the visitor totals and then says only that there are two satisfaction images, while the final paragraph lists categories without reporting their results. References such as “the figure,” “two tables,” and “the first table” are imprecise, and the satisfaction charts are not clearly distinguished. Organise the report around an overview followed by comparisons of visitor totals and satisfaction, using clear references and avoiding repeated introductions.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, relying on words such as “figure,” “people,” “number,” and “satisfied.” Some task-related terms are used, including “refurbishment,” “dissatisfied,” and “no response,” which help identify the subject. However, several choices are inaccurate or awkward and make the meaning harder to follow: “how they satisfied,” “the conclusion of visitor satisfaction,” and “the total amount of visitor.” There are also spelling errors, including “vistors” and “visitore.” Use precise chart-reporting language and accurate collocations, for example “the proportion of visitors who were dissatisfied” and “visitor numbers increased.” This would make the limited range more effective and reduce strain on the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts some longer sentences and uses simple contrast structures, such as “On the other hand after refurbishment…” and “Furthermore, we have two tables of results.” However, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. Examples include “how they satisfied while the visiting,” “it become increase,” and “it were decrease in numbers”; these show problems with clause construction, verb forms, and agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries are also unreliable, as in “the total amount of visitor which visit.” Aim first for accurate simple sentences: “Visitor numbers increased from 74,000 to 92,000,” and “Before refurbishment, 40% of respondents were dissatisfied.” Then add more varied structures once these patterns are controlled.
